JANUARY ASTROLOGICAL JOURNEY

Welcome to 2024! It’s exciting as we turn the page to a New Year. It always gives us hope that changes will arise in a positive direction or that if 2023 was positive we seek to maintain the course. Life is a series of ups and downs. Yet, we don’t like change in large doses. We like calm transitions and yet we are always looking for something that tantalizes our senses.
January opens with Mercury stationing direct. Which is always a blessing as reflecting backwards is challenging. We continue to go over issues which began to arise in November. Since Mercury squared with Neptune, many confusing events began to transpire. Words associated with things such as bizarre, or I can’t believe this is happening, could have left us a little bewildered to say the least. It was hard to understand another person’s point of view without thinking they were being strange.
We will begin the task of unwinding these strange conversations or issues in January. I don’t know if we will exactly see them any clearer though. We should continue to be vigilant in seeing things in the right frame of mind. Mercury stationed direct at the 22nd degree of Sagittarius. Still in the sign of truth and justice. Right is Right after all. Yet, Mercury then moves towards his square with Neptune. Pretty determined to stand our ground. This can leave us feeling scattered as strange things are said and acted upon. The last pass between these two arrives on January 8th for the final time. We could be shattering the hall of mirrors at this time. New information could be arising which sets up a new set of parameters that are just as crazy as the first. Things dissolve and new strange issues could arise.
Mercury then hits the cardinal sign of Capricorn, triggering the world axis. This could bring into being, negotiations within governments or corporations. Significant events could be transpiring around this time. People are business like or cold in some way. Being professional seems to be the only alternative. This arrives on Jan 14, 2024.
Mercury will than begin to pick up speed and things begin to move ahead with trade, agreements, negotiations and communication. Mercury than hits his third pass with Jupiter in a lovely trine aspect. Bringing with it optimism, positive news, or excitement of some kind. Bonuses or windfalls could be headed your way.
By months end, Mercury squares off with Eris, whereby we express our own individual perspectives or ideologies of how we view things. Which is our right to do so.
Mars enters January in an out of bounds state. Moving out of range within the declination of the Sun. This puts this energy on a new platform, whereby we act contrary to what others consider acceptable within the parameters of society. With this we can see exaggerated operations where military wars are raging. Acting with more aggression. Acting outside acceptability. This, military maneuvers could be ramped up in early January. In addition, we could see others as being too hostile, acting out aggressively as the heat ramps up and others are offended over the simplest things. We could all be reaching to accomplish a lot more than is realistic. Mars will return in bounds on Jan 23, 2024.
One of the most significant events astrologically, is the return of Pluto to the sign of Aquarius. Literally while the Sun burns up Pluto’s energy from Capricorn and both move on into a new age of existence. This will be a significant shift coming in 2024. Pluto entered the enlightened sign of Aquarius on March 23rd of 2023, which began the advancements of the sciences, technologies and especially AI. This could signal the rapid rise of AI and incorporation into society. He then returned to Capricorn on June 12th and remained there till 2024. This will begin to set the stage for a new beginning. Through these discoveries, we begin to expand our minds to new possibilities. Way out there, in the universe, new ideas begin to emerge of living differently. Of exercising our freedoms and sovereignty within our lives. Communities will begin to spring up. Cooperation and working together lightens the load. More people working form home as lifestyles change. This will ever increase possibilities and remove the barriers that limit us from expanding our consciousness. Aquarius is inclusive, yet we can be miles apart or not necessarily know each other at all. Like the internet. Negative things can also emerge, such as internet hacking, espionage, spying, scams, and large groups getting in on this scenario.
Aquarius above all is about freedom. Individuality and the rights of all society. Equality within ethnicity, racism, religious beliefs, being poor or any other hostile downgrading of people or persons. There is no room for discrimination in any form. Aquarius is inclusive but does not necessarily get mushy about it all. It is the rebel and produced rebellion to stand for those who have been left out.
We have two lunar cycles this month. The first arriving on January 11th, with the first New Moon of 2024 landing in the cool sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is about power. Who holds it, who runs it, and who maintains control of it. It’s big business, government, and leadership or who’s at the top of the pile directing all the lower people below. Capricorn is the old boys club. This Moon is exactly square to the Nodal axis, a position that Pluto held in the latter part of 2023. Decisions will be made about various directions leaders need to go in to maintain this control. There’s a struggle, as the past no longer works, and the future is unknown yet. This can create problems within the establishment if one has stuck to the same old pattern of leadership. This Moon also square to Eris makes us passionate about our own sovereignty, individuality with the right to be treated equally. Yet we are committed and ready to take these ideologies the next level. Saturn the ruler is opening new opportunities as our perspectives shift and new beliefs are brought forth.
The Full Moon arrives on Jan 25th at the 5th degree of Leo, as we attempt to balance our desires against the crowd’s view. The exact inconjunct to Saturn, understands that we must adhere to protocol if we are going to achieve our own personal wishes. There won’t be anyway around it, expect to adhere to several traditional methods of enacting. If we do, we can see some exciting possibilities coming forth for expansion or advancements. The trouble is this is a stubborn Moon being in the fixed sign of Leo. The chance may come, but we may deny the opportunity, simply because of it being too hard, not exactly what we wanted or thought it should be, or that someone other than ourselves is the king and not us. Pushing us away from a positive avenue. You will need to watch your pennies with this Moon. Perhaps you have overspent a bit and it’s time to cut back. This is a result of Jupiter at the apex of a T-square between the Full Moon axes. Investments and risk taking could be slowing down.
JANUARY HIGHLIGHTS:
The Month opens with Venus in harsh aspects to Saturn. Indicating the year could be filled with relationship issues or financial concerns. In addition, there seems to be a lot of confusion as Mercury makes his last square to Neptune on the 8th. In many ways to try and sort out the truth in amongst the insinuations or allegations made in the previous month.
JAN 9TH: SUN TRINE URANUS:
Expect some changes with this aspect. Which can be enlightening and positive for your goals or ambitions. If you are seeking changes for the new year, this would be a good time to initiate them. Sudden leadership momentum can be viewed as a positive thing as new ideology comes into realization. Leaders could be changing their minds.
Mars also sextiles Saturn here, so we could see opportunities for adherence to new rules coming forward. Especially within the military. Promises are made. Not sure if they will stick with them though. This is an efficient energy to get things done. Heat and cold come together, creating a moist warm air mass.
JAN 10TH: MARS TRINE JUPITER:
This is a very active time, just prior to the New Moon. Giving us a spontaneous energy. Planning trips, venturing out for sporting activities. Active peaceful protests for religious reasons. As we passionately embrace new understandings or wisdom. Working together for a just cause. Compassionate.
JAN 11TH : NEW MOON IN THE SIGN OF CAPRICORN @ 20 DEGREES:
This New Moon brings some enlightenment and insightful resolutions that bring about a change in direction with the trine to Uranus. Leader’s are not sure which move is correct right now. Holding course or moving into the future. Yet we are committed, with a strategy to move forward.
JAN 14: VENUS QUINCUNX URANUS:
If you have been having troubles within partnerships or relationships, this can bring about a stall as someone needs to adjust as required but doesn’t necessarily know how to do this. Changes could be coming forth, which are difficult to keep up with, due to the inability or lack of knowledge. It causes irritations.
JAN 15: SUN SEXTILES NEPTUNE:
Numerous possibilities arise with this aspect. We feel optimistic and idealistic. It’s highly creative energy, which sparks the imagination. It’s great for artist ventures, photography, or musical venues. Holding much sympathy and vision to bring compassion to the suffering.
JAN 18/19: MERCURY SEXTILES SATURN; MERCURY TRINE JUPITER AND VENUS SQUARE NEPTUNE:
Good intentions are indicated around this time. Behind the scenes people could be arranging or organizing fund raising events, parties, or professional tasks. Good deeds are in the works. It’s good aspects for writing or communicating your desires. Yet, it can produce little as Venus squares Neptune. Too much money expended or that the receiver of the good deed is not appreciative. Offers are put out there, with very little though put into the outcome. Things get mixed up.
JAN 20: SUN JOINS WITH PLUTO; JUST AS PLUTO ENTERS AQUARIUS FOR THE 2ND TIME:
This is a powerful ingress, due to the Sun ushering Pluto into Aquarius. Almost as though old mantras are being burned up with the transit, so we can start fresh. The ability to regenerate and change direction is rather phenomenal. A concentration to move forward at all costs with determination to accomplish the goals set forth. Will power, pushes the energy to create one’s desires.
JAN 25TH: FULL MOON IN LEO @ THE 5TH DEGREE
Like all Full Moon’s we are at the peak of the energy. Aware and seeing what we desire going forward. Children’s issues could be top of mind here. Athletics, sports events, or risky investment.
JAN 27: SUN SQUARE JUPITER:
Announcements of overspending. Recessionary issues. Things are out of control and over exaggerated. Inflation. Promises for spending ventures or investment, which are unrealistic. There is a restlessness or nervousness, which get’s out of control. A need to be the top gun and be notices is indicated. Bragging; Boasting or being a Show Off.
Mercury also joins with Mars at this time in the sign of Capricorn. Strategic ideas come forward. A plan of action emerges, which seems sensible at the time. Arguments, which could of arose in December come back into view. Allegations are made, with aggressive speech. This could resolve some confusing issues but could also end a friendship due to the need to control the situation.
The rest of the month is positive as Venus’s trines Saturn; Mercury trines Uranus and Venus trines Jupiter with Mars trine Uranus;
Thus, things are moving forward, and we are looking to the future with optimism as we make sudden plans to change direction. Valuable insight into situations gives us the answers we need. Expect to be swayed towards some new trends emerging, that are both interesting and enlightening. People also are adapting to new models of living. Cutting back and living within their means. Compromise is taking place, as we realize we can be happy without all the hoopla.
