October's Astrological Journey
OCTOBER'S ASTROLOGICAL JOURNEY
We begin to feel the changing winds, as though we can see the coming shifts of the season. A quiet begins to descend in the Northern Hemisphere as we connect strongly with the barren landscape unfolding. The trees begin to give up the fight. Surrendering to mother earth’s calling to sleep. The energy vibrates with stillness, as we tread on fallen leaves once alive with freshness.
This is a slowing season. Filling our senses with warmer cloths, tantalizing hot drinks to warm the palate. Lotions and creams which ease the dryness emerging. We escape into the indoors for activities which keep the mind busy. Reconnecting with old acquaintances and meeting new comrades with similar interests. Creating schedules to keep us busy as we accept the coming of fall. Ready for the break and a little change of pace.
This month seems to be full of these adjustments. Going around obstacles as we try to break free from feeling too constricted. For many we just want to be left alone in October. To dabble around with this thing or that. Yet we might not have such a luxury as the Eclipse Season arrives causing shifts and changes to infiltrate our lives.
This creates a bit more intensity. Eclipses are a bit wild. Creating significant events to transpire in our lives. Moving us from one platform to another. We are accelerated and time speeds up. Launching us through open doors while closing others. They initiate new events within our lives to unfold at a rapid pace, bringing with them some of life’s most significant events to unfold.
We are finishing off the Taurus/Scorpio axis of Eclipses this month, as we head into the new axis of Aries/Libra for the next 18-24 months. Bringing us into new realities of where we stand within the groups of people surrounding us. If you are an Aries or Libra or wherever these signs position themselves, be prepared for changes.
Pluto is applying pressure this month, as he is linked to the Eclipse points throughout the month. Clearly creating a more dramatic energy than we first seek out to accomplish. He is very strong during the beginning of the month, due to his stationing direct on the 11th of October. This creates intensity, pressure to pick an avenue of escape. Like a game show, which door would you seek out. The South Node of a stable, comfortable alliance, even though the people we’ve aligned with are not so friendly. Yet it’s safe. We’re familiar with the energy and can tread along without much risk. Or door number 2, which is the North Node. A risk lies behind this door. Something new and a little foreign to our sensibilities. Where we seek out our own desires in what makes us happy. Through this door, we can feel lonely, as we trek out on an unfamiliar path. Too look at our own needs, versus trying to attend to the needs of others.
Pluto is also just finishing up his journey through Capricorn. Breaking down the traditional path, infrastructure, and stability in leadership. His need to hang on and fight to the dying breath is admirable. A shining example of dedication. There is a completion under way and a struggle to change things in some capacity before we lose our way completely.
Venus also begins to move on. She has been in the sign of Leo for an extended stay, due to her retrograde station. Having entered Leo on June 6th, she came under fire from both Jupiter and Uranus. Causing upsets, challenges, and difficulties. It was a little frazzling as we fraught through temptations. Everything could have seemed a bit riskier than we would have liked.
Venus finally heads into the sign of Virgo come the 9th of October. Where she is somewhat hard on those she loves. She demands perfection here, becoming rather condescending, critical and nit picking everything which is out of place. This is a harder edge than her journey through Leo, yet she seeks now to organize, straighten out and dispel anything which no longer fits with her values. She will make some lovely connections on her journey through the second half of October. First making a fabulous trine to Jupiter and then to Uranus, both in the stabilizing sign of Taurus. This will create a wonderful Grand Earth Trine. Surely connecting us in many ways.
Mercury now is moving much faster, after his retrograde station. As he picks up speed this month, he will travel into two signs. First entering Libra on the 5th, drawing the conversations to others. Diplomacy and public relations will top the list of important items to accomplish. New agreements within partnerships, alliances or in personal connections begin to emerge. We form our bonds here, to set the stage for the coming season. There is a need to strive for balance. Various issues before the courts could be striking resolutions.
The Hermes then moves into the mysterious sign of Scorpio and is ready for a good spy novel. Dropping into Scorpio on October 22nd. Delving deep into the missing gaps in stories. It’s hard to keep a secret here. We are a little more controlling, but also sensitive. Scheming and plotting our next moves, which for all intents and purposes could appear a little manipulative. Things bubble to the surface, provoking betrayals, as we research our way to solutions. We seek resolution through transformational avenues of concession.
Mars moves into Scorpio come October 22nd. A sign he co-rules with Pluto. This is a powerful placement. Full of emotional reactions. Courageous, brave, and resourceful. A great deal of energy is directed towards financial concerns, stock market, investments, insurances, or shared resources such as banking systems. We draw strength from the depths of our soul here. With a vast amount of regeneration happening. On the negative side we can become jealous, revengeful. With secret activity going on.
October Events:
There’s a lot of tension at the beginning of the month. Like there’s some sort of problem that just drags you around. With no apparent resolution. Adjustments will have to be made throughout the month, so stay focused and engaged.
Things are very complicated. A need to venture in a new direction, but it’s tangled in frustrations due to unexpected events. Breakdowns in diplomacy can cut of any potential progress.
From October 1st to the 12th: There are numerous quincunxes between Mars/Uranus; Mercury and the North Node; Venus/Neptune; Mercury/Saturn; Sun/Jupiter; Mercury/Jupiter.
This adds strain and stress into the start of the month’s energies. A feeling that we need to attend to something or solve some sort of problem which continually plagues us. Outside influences are dysfunctional and cause us to modify our lives in some manner. That we need to fix something but are unsure of how to go about this. We can expect to be dealing with some health issues on the horizon. Perhaps Covid once again. We can become disconnected to real life issues due to a perceived crisis or real crisis. Yet, we have this blind spot that prevents us from seeing the forest for the trees. The obvious can be staring us in the face, yet we miss the bigger picture and the resolution. We can find that we go to drastic lengths to fix the problem.
There is some positive energy through the Venus/North Node; Mercury trine Pluto; and Mars trine Saturn.
Laced amongst the frustration, appears to be assistance, resolutions, and forward motion. Yet, we may feel that things are out of our control and would sooner let someone else deal with things. Promises are made and forward motion seems apparent. You will have to watch that things get done.
THE MAJOR ASPECTS:
OCTOBER 8TH: MARS SQUARE PLUTO:
Things begin to build up to this point. It can be rather explosive energy and perhaps a bit dangerous. Wars, violence, or arguments can be more pronounced here. Adding pressure to react to something. It’s forceful and military action can be taken. Courage is present to take the risk in achieving the goal. To conquer the threat. It’s intense energy, that can manifest between governments, leaders, and directives to military intervention. On a personal level. Tempers can fly as individuals attempt to control various events within their lives. This is a will to survive.
OCTOBER 10TH: VENUS OPPOSE SATURN:
Venus is newly in Virgo by this time. Corrections and analytical evaluations could be taking place. To sort out the confusing arising. Financial issues to rein in spending is apparent. Demands can be implemented to put one’s affairs in order. Expect delays and obstacles to appear.
OCTOBER 14TH: NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE IN LIBRA: SOUTH NODE:
The good news is that we will be pretty determined to commit to new connections being made. However, old relationships, partnerships, marriages, or alliances seems to be coming to an end. Most likely due to the lone individual within such contracts is not being recognized or valued for their sovereignty or individual talents. Discussion to break off from such dysfunctions can be realized. Some of these issues can even end up in the courts for judicial decisions to be made. Several disassociations or people attempting to break away from restrictions seem apparent. Although it could be rather costly.
Just prior to the Sun Conjunct Mercury in Libra on the 20th:
Results in both these planets quincunx Uranus on the 15th and 17th. There is a strong need for adjustments. Breaking away from traditional alliances. This can be frustrating as things are happening very quickly. New avenues of expression or opportunities are presenting themselves.
OCTOBER 20: MERCURY CONJUNCT SUN:
This is a fresh start as a new conversation emerges. This is a good time to initiate new goals or aspirations. Writing projects or journalling. Programs are formulated. Manifestation. Negotiations or agreements are highlighted.
OCTOBER 20/21: SUN/MERCURY SQUARE PLUTO:
This is power of expression. Determined to push forward with against all odds to ensure success. This is ambitious yet controlling energy. There could be difficulties with travel. Orders or manipulations can be domineering. There is a force to make others comply with what is being expressed.
As we clear the mid to latter month. Things begin to ease up as we’ve adjusted to the climate ensuing.
OCTOBER 22ND: VENUS TRINE JUPITER:
This is an optimistic energy unfolding. Creating more sociable connections. An interest in expanding our opportunities. Interests in the arts, business, decorating, or travel. New fashion trends can be emerging. A time of hospitality, generosity to enhance our lives. This is a lucky aspect, which could signal some positive steps within financial sectors.
Mercury trine Saturn: Initiatives of organization. A time to make solid plans for the future. It’s good for building ventures, writing or positive news forthcoming. Inspirational ideas begin to emerge.
OCTOBER 24: SUN TRINE SATURN:
There is a determination to achieve through practical avenues of inspiration. Dedication to a project. Strong leadership qualities which move others to comply. This is a chance to make your mark through hard work.
OCTOBER 28: FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE IN TAURUS:
This is the last in a series of Eclipses that arrived on the Taurus/Scorpio axis. This is a North Node eclipse, which opens new doors of opportunities. What we value shifts. We are more selective in what we desire. Critical and perhaps a tad apprehensive, due to worry or panic. This Moon is precise. Exact in how we express our needs. There is a need to gain control with Mars oppose Jupiter exact. A time of changes in how we connect with one another through resources. Issues surrounding costs of living are more prominently expressed. Being practical and honest with ourselves. Venus begins to form the Grand Earth Trine. Stabilizing our lives, producing some grand ideas. Change is arising.
OCTOBER 29: MERCURY CONJUNCT MARS:
This is an excellent time to express what you wish to transpire. Full of determination, decisiveness. We could be actively seeking resolutions through the uncovering of secrets. A detective novel ready to be written. Diving deep into challenges that test our brain power to motivate us into action.
OCTOBER 31ST: HALLOWEEN/SAMHAIN: THE WITCHES NEW YEAR
VENUS TRINE URANUS:
This is an exciting aspect for Halloween. Full of surprises, insight and eventful events. Good fortune rides with us on our brooms of flight. Performing spontaneously and everything falls into place. This is a little bohemian, mixed with gypsy energy. That is both attractive and interesting. A good day to play with electronic devices. Recordings or radio frequencies that could hop us into the other worlds. It’s romantic and appealing to socialize or host a party!
