DECEMBER’S ASTROLOGICAL JOURNEY
THE PULL BACK
This is the month of the holiday season. Filled with optimism, enthusiasm as we gather round Christmas Trees and drink holiday refreshments filled with cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s the time of gratefulness, and excitement as children make Santa wishes. Filling papers with the shopping lists of our desires.
A time of holiday cheer, as snow laces trees and things sparkle in mid air. Jack frost nibbles at our noses as we glide upon frozen ponds, delighted in the magic of it all.
Yet, it’s also a time of dread, as pressure mounts to fill credit cards and as sugar plumps dance in our heads, the tally rises with months of payments yet to come. We can feel overwhelmed by expectations and the curse of not being able to say no!
This is one of those months, where many of us will be changing the dialogue and station to the monologue playing. Viewing things in a different perspective and developing new traditions. Filling our time with outdoor activities, vs shopping mall lineups. Choosing to unit with cheer of each others company, while removing the commercial part of Christmas. It’s a time of reflection and Pulling Back.
TWO NEW MOON’S BRACKET THE MONTH.
Dec 1, 2024: 9 degrees of Sagittarius 32 minutes: The first Pull Back.
We open the month on the back of a New Moon in the optimistic sign of Sagittarius. Filling our space with optimism and hope for the future. It can promise much, as we seek truth in our existence and how we are manifesting our lives. It can pull us back to reality as the New Moon squares Saturn. Bringing some sense of traditional ways back into the energy of December. Slowing down our perspective, as we listen intensely at how we wish to view the world. Being a mutable sign, we can change direction quickly and shoot off onto new pathways of thought and action. We seek new horizons, through energetic activities such as travel, exploring nature, sporting events and taking the risk of the adventure. This Moon’s energy is fresh, planting the seeds of new traditions for the future. Filling our lives with new purpose.
MERCURY STATIONS RETROGRADE: NOV 26TH – DEC 16TH:
The Second Pull Back.
As we twist ourselves inside out, we can find we have little patience here as Mercury travels though the truth loving sign of Sagittarius. The dialogue is swift and fast. Moving us from one thought to another at record speed. Mercury retrogrades tend to activate our minds but deafen our ears. We have little time to listen completely to the conversations and jump to the end before the other person is finished.
This can be double the trouble with Mercury in detriment and in opposition to Jupiter three times on his way through. We can be overly stimulated but polarized to see both sides of the equation. There is speculation here, assumptions and too much overload of communication. We can feel as though we must pick one side or the other in truthfulness. Social media can be impacted, along with publishing. Shipping and delivery services. Rhetoric and propaganda along with breaking news stories. Issues surrounding the legal system, courts, immigration, university, foreign travel, and bureaucracy as we attempt to figure out things.
Yet, we can be eager to explore. Filled with old connections to gather round for a cup of cider and old memories of school years emerging. We can rediscover our passions and what once use to excite us. An old hobby of hiking or sport can once again intrigue our interests. Where did we leave off with various projects, like writing that book, realizing that dream or launching our own courses.
In addition to Mercury opposing Jupiter, putting us on overload. Mercury also makes a square aspect to Saturn. This is a bit restrictive as we clamp down on our ability to freely express our insights. There is perhaps a reality check, whereby you may not know how to respond to certain allegations or hyped-up rhetoric or simply that you can’t get involved, due to a position you hold. There is often worry here, that no matter how many times you go over the facts, there really is no solution. There can be elements of fear of saying something that produces repercussions of some sort. It’s an aspect that is steeped in tradition to respect those in positions of perceived power.
Mercury squared Saturn: Nov 12th; Dec 6th and again on the 27th of December.
Mercury will oppose Jupiter: Nov 17/18; Dec 4th and again on Dec 26th.
During the 26t/27th of Dec: A T-square will form due to the Jupiter square Saturn. This can be challenging!
MARS STATIONS RETROGRADE: DECEMBER 4TH @ 6 DEGREES OF LEO: The Third Pull Back
Mars the planet of action, aggression and war, entered his shadow on October 6th @ 17 degrees of Cancer. A placement that is often fiercely protective. Especially for land, property, patriotism, history, family and home. In Cancer, he doesn’t go direct at a target with this energy, but manoeuvres his way through, seemingly undetected.
Mars then hit Leo on November 4th, a time of increased aggression in many parts of the world. Now, Mars feels comfortable, confident and a bit arrogant in the fire sign of Leo. Here is a challenge that Mars enjoys. Where willpower proves to be advantageous as the energy is now fixated on a specific purpose. Our desire to achieve our goals are highlighted and we push forward with confidence, determined that nobody will challenge our motives. We need to dominate and direct our lives.
With the Mars retrograde station on the 4th, we can find things are coming out of the shadows. Working though various events which have transpired since October. With Mercury also in retrograde, information planning and strategy plays a part in what has been going on. Deceptive actions, hidden behind cloaks of manoeuvring the pieces on a chest board. We could be pulling back from War, as agreements are re-evaluated.
Re-evaluations of activities seems likely at this point. Like a who done it in the novel of reviews, allegations and mysteries yet to be uncovered.
This uncovering can certainly take place, as Mars comes to his opposition to Pluto.
His first connection to Pluto rested between Cancer and Capricorn at the infamous 29th degree, just prior to the United States election on Nov 1st to 3rd. Which reminds me of secretive plots and backroom deals made in the shadows of some smoked filled room. Actions produce consequences with Capricorn, so a good assessment of the risks was likely. This is an aspect of position and power coming against dangerous motivations. Mars pushes for change here. Putting pressure on things to shift destiny. It’s a war induced energy, which aggravates situations. Manipulating through dangerous violent means to achieve an end. Violence and conflict arise here, which can be challenging due to the force of the energy being produced. Karma is in play.
With Mars retrograde, an unravelling of such activities can be suspect. We slowly lose our enthusiasm of the hunt or hunted. Mars retrograde is really a hero’s journey. The conquered or conqueror. Mars is about courage, strength and willpower, especially in the sign of Leo. Ruler Sun gives him power to rise to the occasion. With Mars retrograde, we can find ourselves retreating and Pulling Back. Losing our interests and vitality in a specific project. Was it worth it in the end. When Mars shifts back into Cancer, we can find ourselves really withdrawing into our own little clam-shells.
We can find old interest in activities we once loved to do. Reconnecting with old companions and seeking refuge with family and friends with liked minded motivations. A time to pull back and see if we are on the right track and for the right reasons. This may produce a pull back from war, perhaps through negotiations.
Reassessments, re-strategizing, restructuring our defences and reconsidering our next motivations.
Mars will oppose Pluto again in 2025 from Jan 1-3rd, where new insight can give rise, and secrets emerge into various activities. This will now be in the sign of Leo/Aquarius.
In direct motion, Mars will oppose Pluto April 25th to 26th. In the signs of Leo and Aquarius.
What activities were begun since October 6th, seem to be active till April of 2025. We are now in it for the long haul.
Mars will also head out of bound come the 30th of December till April 6th 2025.
We ca feel as though we can’t seem to escape from a situation. When Mars moves beyond acceptable territory, he acts out of character and out of the social norms of acceptable behaviour. Things can get a little extreme during the first months of 2025. Mars will move as far out as 26 degrees. Uncharacteristic behaviour seems likely. People can be doing all sorts of unusual things. Trying something novel and quitting their usual activities. People can seem like they are a bit brazen or aggressive. They don’t fit into the usual patterns of what society considers acceptable. New trends emerge, but due to his retrograde station, we can be pulling from the past.
War type behavior moves onto a new platform and a different novel approach is taken. This could ramp up war by moving it into a different direction and out of the hands of constraint. This can spell extremes.
NEPTUNE STATIONS DIRECT: DECEMBER 7TH:
As Mars is stationing retrograde and very close to the earth, making us all a little bit more aggressive than usual. We can feel tired, drained of all motivation, energy and exuberance.
Then Neptune, also now close to the earth, is also slow with a heightened energy of influence. Neptune is creative faith filled with inspirational energy force. Motivating us through spiritual connection and pure believe that something is possible. It is compassionate, seeking to withdraw and escape from the realities of life.
Since these two are moving and influencing us, we can feel the need to withdraw and escape in some way. Under some sort of disillusionment that another avenue or place looks better than what we are presently doing. One needs to watch for scams.
This can create bizarre coincidences as we meet with old friends, lovers or acquaintances. We can feel as though we are in warp time. Old hysteria can emerge, such as old diseases such as Covid or other contagious flu. Issues surrounding the environment, oil and gas industry, drugs or alcohol or pharmaceutical issues. Hospitals and the health care industry. With Mars stationing we can feel as though we don’t have much willpower in the situations evolving.
Venus ingress to Aquarius: Dec 7th – Jan 3rd, 2025:
As soon as Venus enters Aquarius, she collides with Pluto. Making this journey a bit remarkable for financial gains perhaps for funding environmental issues, humanitarian needs and for technologies. This could be about investments made in several of these areas.
A need to move away from materialism and connect with like minded individuals. Venus softens the detachment of Aquarius, seeking a hippy or bohemian vibe, for peace and freedom. There is a desire to seek something unusual or different.
We will need to watch for stomping our feet and demanding what we want.
Sun conjunct Mercury: 14 Sagittarius:
As with all Mercury retro stations, we have the Hermes coming to the king to impart the information that has been gathered. This can result in new decisions being formulated and a new conversation emerging.
This will be the inferior conjunction. This is where Mercury passes between the Earth and Sun. We can find deeper truth here, as we tap into unconscious states of understanding. Like a form of telepathy of understanding. Thus, we can break free from old issues. Resolve our attachment to various dialogues and coming to some sort of solution. This can be a turning point where we advance. This could be due to new information emerging which turns things in one direction or the other.
If you are dealing with legal issues, it seem promising if you have done your due diligence to make your case.
VENUS OPPOSES MARS : DEC 12TH : The Forth Pull Back
Although we have new information on hand, Venus will now trigger the Mars oppose Pluto aspect. This can signal a time to pick one side, or the other or which side is most beneficial for us to pick. This can produce relationship problems and difficulty for making agreements with allies. Since one sees the problem in a different light and has a different solution. We can feel as though we are getting the wrong end of the deal. Power struggles seem to emerge with money or financial management.
FULL MOON IN GEMINI: DEC 15TH:
We are all eager to express our opinions of late. This Moon highlights the conversations being expressed. Negotiations and agreements emerging in the full light of the Moon. It’s important to pay attention to the news media at this time, as new stories are emerging. Social media, publishing, distribution of goods and services are highlighted.
The ruler Mercury is at a standstill. Holding his breath in anticipation of the answers unfolding. It’ can be challenging as things are up for debate and review. The trine to Mars indicates positive solutions unfolding for negotiations or agreements within war mongering as both sides come to the table. Jupiter will trigger this Full Moon on May 9th to 13th. A pivotal time for highlights and positive results. Perhaps through the courts or legal wrangling.
WINTER SOLSTICE: SUN REACHES Its FARTHEST POINT SOUTH: YULE: DEC 21ST:
This is a time of celebration, where the Sun will sit for approximately 3 days before it turns and begins to trek north once again. The light begins to return, and a new season is before us. We have something to hope for.
The Sun enters the coolness of Capricorn, making life a bit drearier and more depressive in the coming months. A time to buckle down and get serious about our resolutions for the new year approaching. We can experience a little fear of what 2025 will hold. Things become practical with work before us. We think of cutting back, making commitments and working hard to achieve our goals.
CHRISTMAS SEASON: DEC 24TH TO 31ST: The Fifth Pull Back
Jupiter square Saturn: Dec 24th:
This is a spin off from August 19th as Jupiter and Saturn square off for the 2nd time. This produces a great deal of confusion and inconsistencies. It would be good to look at what was transpiring in August to see what is unfolding here.
The Gemini need to tell all, gets bottled up in the images of Saturn. Truth is evasive and allegations can become rampant and believable even though the spin is not worth our time of day. Jupiter seeks to expand, and Saturn seeks to contain, yet in Pisces the boundaries are blurred. What is mine and what is yours becomes mired in confusion.
We could struggle with making agreements and being consistent. This causes problems within business and financial affairs. You will have to follow your instincts about what is being related as things seem fishy. Things are not planned out well and bad deals emerge. This could highlight scams, hacking and information leaking. Bizarre stories unfolding. Poor management of governments, or municipal affairs. There is a lack of experience with a demand for too much information, which could breach confidentiality laws.
Social media platforms will be highlighted. X, Tic Tok, Instagram, Facebook and the like.
Dec 26th to 28th: Challenging: T-square emerges with Saturn as the apex and Mercury oppose Jupiter.
There is a lot of pressure here to adhere to some sort of obligation or responsibility. The problem is we are unsure of the expectations before us. This leads to confusion and illogical demands. Extremism fights against the unrealistic demands of leaders or governments. There is a feeling of too much propaganda and rhetoric or untruths, which place pressure on leaders to correct the misinformation arising. This is stressful and prone to collapsing financial stability. Difficulties with maintaining the status quo, which produces anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia.
Venus squares Uranus : Dec 28th :
This can further compound the issues within financial concerns and relationship or partnerships. The confusion can cause breakups and separations occurring. Probably due to financial pressures from the Christmas holiday season. This can push people beyond boundaries of acceptable behaviour. We can see rebellious activities and perhaps riots. People are unpredictable and unstable here.
NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN: DEC 30TH: The Final Pull Back
I believe by this juncture we are all ready to initiate something new to resolve our fears and anxieties. Strong realizations come to the surface, as we launch ourselves onto a new platform in 2025. This Moon is serious to put our heads down. Getting to the business at hand.
The semi-square to Saturn is indicative of pressures emerging that might not be a problem just yet, if we are aware of what needs to be done. Cutting through the clouds of confusion and sorting things out.
This is a time of resetting the clocks on our lives. That if we realize in our dilemma’s we can pull back and come to a sense of stability. It’s a good moon to get determined and seek your faith or intuition to guide you through. Looking to your past experiences or belief system to get you going on the right path.
The Year closes, with tensions building as stark realization emerge within our lives. It’s a month to Pull Back and redirect your energy to prepare for the coming year ahead. Be patient in your quest to move forward. You don’t have to prove anything, except to yourself. Have a little faith in the Christmas Blessings and what Christmas means to you.
